Saint Michael and All Angels strives to Preach, Teach, Heal, and Make Disciples.

What we do day in and day out forms us into who we are. We offer tools to help you become the person you always wanted to be—tools to help you become more like Jesus. At the heart of our formation are discipleship groups for adults/teens, where you develop those daily habits needed for transformation, and Godly Play, a Montessori-based way of exploring the Bible. We also have a monthly community event.

Be sure to check out our events for upcoming opportunities to become better friends with God.

What is a Discipleship Group?

As Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Each group of 3-4 meets for approximately an hour each week to talk, pray, and grow stronger in their faith.  Each disciple commits about 20 minutes each day during which they read the Bible, pray for the other disciples, and listen to the Holy Spirit in their lives. Disciple groups meet once a week for about an hour. The hope is that after about a year in your discipleship group, you will be ready to facilitate a new group of disciples.

How do I get started in a Discipleship Group?

Each person commits about 20 minutes a day to reading the Bible, praying for the group, and listening to what God is saying in your life.

Click here to complete a short (1-minute) online survey or complete this printable form and return it to Carol Beis. We will use the information you give us to help pair you with a Discipleship Group leader and a few other disciples. Your group leader will contact your group to sort out details about the date, time, and place (either in person or virtual as decided by your group).

If you know of someone who might be interested in a Discipleship Group, either inside SMAA or from the wider community, please invite them to join you in a discipleship group and make sure we get their contact information so we can include them.

Godly Play

Godly Play is a Montessori-based way for children to explore their faith through storytelling, play, and creative expression. It’s designed to nurture their natural curiosity and build a strong foundation with Jesus.

For parents, Godly Play offers peace of mind, knowing your child is in a safe, engaging environment where they can grow emotionally and spiritually. It’s a wonderful way for kids to develop their imagination, learn important life lessons, and form a deeper connection with their faith—all while having fun.

Pathway Towards Discipleship

  • Acolytes help lead our worship by carrying the crosses, candles, and other items during the procession and in various important ways throughout the service. It’s a great opportunity for both adults and children to get involved and learn more about worship.

If you or your child are interested in acolyte training, please contact Daniela Cuddington.

  • The Altar Guild serves the Lord with gladness (Psalm 100:2) and prepares the altar for each worship service. This is a meaningful way to pray by doing.

For more information, please contact Julie Wilson.

  • Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest in administering Holy Communion. Eucharistic Ministers can also become Eucharistic Visitors, who help deliver communion to our sick and homebound members. Contact our vicar if you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister.

  • Music is a vibrant and welcoming part of our church, offering a place for everyone to participate. As St. Augustine said, "He who sings, prays twice." With two choirs, we bring a rich variety of music to our worship services, and we’re a singing congregation open to many different styles.

St. Cecilia’s Singers is an ensemble that includes both singers and instrumentalists. We focus on folk hymns and spirituals, blending various musical styles. Rehearsals are brief, starting at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings.

Remiel’s Ringers Handbell Choir is an enthusiastic group that adds a sparkle to worship. Whether you're an experienced ringer or a beginner, you're welcome here! We ring at two services each month, with rehearsals scheduled to meet the group's needs.

We’re always excited to welcome new members—no experience needed! If you’re interested in joining one or both of our music groups, please contact Ayush Joshi, our Music Director. Come help us sing, play, and ring God’s praises

  • The St. Michael Quilters learn the art of quilting while working on projects that serve both the SMAA congregation and the wider community. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month and enjoys teaching the art of quilting. For more information, please contact Libby Law.

  • The Archives Committee helps preserve the history and records of St. Michael and All Angels. Volunteers can work on a flexible schedule.

Our Counting Team handles the offerings collected during services. If you’re interested in helping with counting contact Libby Law.

  • Our Nursery provides a safe and fun space for young children to play and learn during Sunday worship. They are cared for by professional, background-checked staff and volunteers.

If you’d like to volunteer in our nursery, contact Carol Beis, our Director of Christian Formation.

  • Taizé Worship is a peaceful and reflective service that takes place on the second Sunday of each month at 7 PM in our main Sanctuary. Taizé features brief readings, prayers, moments of silent meditation, and simple, repetitive songs that create a calming atmosphere to hear the voice of God.

If you would like to help with making this service happen contact Richard Vandiver.

  • Ushers and greeters play a key role in making our worship services welcoming. As Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes you welcomes me" (Matthew 10:40).

If you’d like to serve in one of these roles, please contact Barbara Luksik.

  • Hospitality is essential to our vision of making disciples, as Scripture reminds us, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers" (Hebrews 13:2). Our hospitality ministry is a way we make new friends and treasure others. We offer coffee and snacks every Sunday after worship and do a monthly potluck together.

If you’d like to serve in this way contact our vicar.

  • Readers help lead worship by leading us in prayer and the reading of Scripture (1 Timothy 4:13).

If you’re interested in serving as a reader for a Sunday service, please contact Ayush Joshi, our office manager.

  • Our Sound Team plays a crucial role in ensuring our worship services run smoothly by managing volume levels and setting up microphones each Sunday. Volunteers work on a rotating schedule, and no prior experience is needed.

If you’d like to get involved, please contact Rick Vandiver.
