About the event
"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
Ash Wednesday is the ultimate reality check. It is the moment we stop pretending we are in control and acknowledge that our time here is limited.
We do not accept the ashes to wallow in guilt, but to accept the challenge of Lent: a forty-day discipline of prayer, fasting, and self-denial. We strip away the distractions to train our hearts and bodies for the only thing that matters—standing before Jesus at the General Resurrection.
This is a solemn, intimate service. We will confront our mortality, receive the grace of the Sacrament, and begin the work of preparing for the life of the world to come.
